Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Review

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments

I have had my eye on these for quite a while but never got around to checking them out until now. I actually got this mini duo as my birthday gift from Sephora for joining the Beauty Insider program. When I saw that this year the birthday gift was this, I was thrilled! If you haven't heard of these Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments then I'm happy to tell you all about them.

I have never heard of the brand Fresh before these lip balms, but I browsed their site and saw some interesting items. They are also carried in Sephora stores but not every product is in each store.

On the site the information about this lip treatment is as follows: "Fresh’s #1 best-seller famous for its ultra-nourishing and protective benefits, sublime texture, and iconic citrus flavor". So far I would agree with all of those claims. It has a lovely citrus scent, not so much flavour since I try not to ingest the balm, but for sure I get the scent. It has a really smooth texture and feels very soft and buttery. My lips did feel protected and nourished like they had a moisturizing layer on them. Overall I would say that Fresh follows through on its claims.

Now there are a few varieties of this lip balm. The original one is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment which is a clear balm. It comes in a really nice tube. The tube is matte metallic and feels a little thicker than a typical plastic tube. I really loved the way it clicked at the base to secure the top on. I always worry with other lip tubes (like Maybelline Baby Lips) that the top will just slide off. This one has a satisfying click that assures me it will stay put while rolling around my makeup bag.

Other colours of this lip balm include Sugar Honey Lip Treatment and Sugar Plum Lip Treatment. My mini set came with Sugar Rose Lip Treatment, which I really like. I love rose anything so I was glad this was the other tube in the Sephora birthday duo. Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment is a lovely red shade and reminds me of Benefit's famous Benetint. That probably is because of the rose factor.

This tinted balm does the same as the original clear version. It smooths and protects while adding a subtle red hue to your pucker. Its pretty and I like it for when I need a hint of red, but it is only a slight hint. It isn't as dark as I would have imagined but overall it feels lovely and looks nice. This has the same tube with the security at the base, but this one is a matte metallic silvery mauve shade.

It feels expensive, and it is. These lip treatments go for $22.50 each in a 4.3g tube. My mini duo is of course much smaller and really all I need. Although I love the feeling I get from these lip balms, they are a little too much money for such a simple product. If you are a Sephora Beauty Insider then don't pass up the birthday gift to get these minis!

All in all I am really happy that I got these the way I did. Free. They are super cute and I will enjoy using them until they run out, but I won't be buying a full size one. Have you ever tried these Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments? Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!

Thanks for reading!

I agree about the price, I probably won't buy it after I use it all.

  2. When I got my birthday coupon in the mail from Beauty Insider I made a bee-line to my Sephora and picked up my set, I love this stuff! But you're right, they are far too expensive. I have another mini tube that I got in one of my Birchboxes so I think I'm set for a while.
